Student Government Leadership

When I first got to college, I knew I didn’t want to just go to class and go home — I wanted to be part of something that mattered. Something that could actually change lives and improve the student experience. That’s when I learned about ASWSU, the Associated Students of Washington State University.

So in September 2024, I ran for office and was elected as the Freshman Delegate. I didn’t take that lightly — I wanted to make my time count.

During my term, I created something I wish had existed when I first arrived — the First Year Coug of the Month program. It was my way of recognizing new students who were already stepping up, contributing, and making an impact, even if they hadn’t been seen yet. I also spent time writing legislation that could help others feel more supported and connected. In total, I authored and passed four pieces of legislation—each focused on one of three things I care deeply about: student support, equity, and visibility. From improving how we share crisis resources... to launching a program that supports early pre-health students... to making sure ASWSU resolutions actually reach the students we serve—I made sure every resolution I passed had purpose behind it.

By the end of the year, my peers named me “Most Likely to Pass a Resolution”—a superlative that made me smile, because it reminded me that I had followed through on what I set out to do.

But I wasn’t done.

I ran for All-Campus Senator, and I was elected again — this time to serve all students, not just freshmen. This next chapter is about building on the foundation I’ve already laid, finishing the work I started, and bringing even more voices into the room.

This page is here to walk you through that journey — the legislation, the programs, the values — and everything I’m continuing to fight for as a student leader.

ASWSU

ASWSU stands for the Associated Students of Washington State University — the official student government that represents the voices, needs, and interests of over 20,000 students across the Pullman campus. Through legislation, advocacy, and student-run initiatives, ASWSU shapes campus policy, supports equity-focused programs, and builds stronger connections between students and administration.

You can view all the resolutions I authored and passed on the official ASWSU legislation archive.

My Legislative Work as a
Freshman Delegate (2024–2025)

At Coug Day, I represented WSU in Olympia, advocating directly with lawmakers on behalf of students across Washington. I spoke with legislators, testified, and joined efforts to support key bills that could impact access, safety, and opportunity for thousands.

I focused on critical issues like expanding the Washington College Grant (HB 1586 & SB 5204), advancing sexual assault prevention (SB 5355), protecting student free speech (HB 1343), and ensuring continued support for Native student scholarships and students experiencing homelessness.
